Day 12: Toxic Receipts

A brief student presentation about an environmental issue in the news really surprised me. I learned that BPA (Bisphenol A), a plastic hardener is on receipt paper and can leach into your body through your skin! Fear of adverse affects of BPA is why people avoid plastic bottles, especially ones that have been left in the sun. But this news article says that the BPA on receipts is actually stronger than the chemical is in bottles.

The next time you have a bag of fries, it's probably not a good idea to put the receipt in the bag!
